Apophenia

"Apophenia" is the spontaneous perception of connections and meaningfulness of unrelated phenomena.

"The propensity to see connections between seemingly unrelated objects or ideas most closely links psychosis to creativity ... apophenia and creativity may even be seen as two sides of the same coin."
--Peter Brugger, Department of Neurology, University Hospital, Zurich.

In statistics, apophenia is called a "Type One Error," seeing patterns where none, in fact, exist. It is highly probable that the apparent significance of many unusual experiences and phenomena are due to apophenia.

No Brainstatik concert would be complete without the "tangle of cables" shot.

Rob warms up the e-bow...

...while Ken's new toys await their sonic debut.

Dr. Cosmo suddenly morphed up from the carpet to snap a few digital photos.

Ken captured this rare glimpse (unretouched photo above) of the Doctor in his true form, as he aimed some kind of image capture device right back at Ken in self defense.

See more pix from the other side of the Doctor's lens here in the Nocturnal Transmissions archives.
