the fourth crosswicks

--SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2004-

Once again, the Crosswicks Community House was reconfigured. This time, the bands each brought a few extra lighting toys to play with, so there were some colorful new patterns in the fog, which were noticed by the audience!

First performer: SNIB

Of course, someone in the audience asked what it stood for. The answer...

...was only revealed to those in attendance.
(And everyone got a free SNIB CD too... You should have been there!)

The entire SNIB performance was videotaped, courtesy of shadowy figure and fellow musician Ace Paradise.

Jeff Mitchell added many flavors of guitar to the mix, including a Cosmic Coffeehouse first: an acoustic guitar solo! (But what's up with that television? "Stay away from the light...")

The TV really wasn't that spooky.
The band played some cool and often amusing videos on it to go along with their songs.

Back in the darkness, almost unseen, Warren Seddon unleashes some rhythmic pulses...

...on a variety of modern and vintage gear, including the classic '80s sound of a Casio VL-Tone!

BONUS: Watch these short QuickTime movie clips of the performers
here (0.8Mb) and here (1.0Mb).

Second performer: The Ministry of Inside Things

MoIT played a single long composition consisting of many interweaving themes.
Chuck van Zyl and Art Cohen mesmerized the audience with their intricate compositions.

The extra lighting effects really matched the music well.
The audience was attentive, and listened to the performance.

This was the last stop of MoIT's Winter 2004 tour, which included several planetarium shows.

The Cosmic Coffeehouse didn't have the stars (or the dome), but it did have plenty of atmosphere!

(More photos to come!)

Postlude

Thanks also to all of the volunteers who served the coffee and snacks, and to the audience. Your contributions help to support the Crosswicks Community Association and the upkeep of the Crosswicks Community House, and encourage us to keep the Cosmic Coffeehouse going and growing. We hope you'll join us here again next time!
